A few important things to remember...

As it turns out, I'm not so great at this blogging thing. Oh well. I blame it on pregnancy brain. To be honest, the real reason I decided to try this out was to have a spot where friends and family could follow in Trevor's life from afar. You know, see how big and cute he becomes!

All of that said, there are a few things I've been meaning to document so I don't forget. Since I'm not keeping a journal either (another goal gone down the drain), please excuse my indulgence with these notes:

  • When we started our childbirth prep class in mid-November, the teacher told us that our babies are probably interacting with us by now inside the womb. As all of the other mothers nodded in agreement, I looked at Jeff with worry - Trevor is definitely moving around in there, but he's definitely NOT communicating with Morse code like the other babies in his class. Oh no! He's already behind! So, I made it my life's mission to get him to communicate with me to no avail. As soon as he moved, I would poke back. Then he would stop all together. Great - he already hates me! Finally, a few days before Thanksgiving, Jeff gave Trevor a little poke and he poked back in the same spot! This continued for a few glorious minutes. We were so excited and laughing. Definitely one of the best moments yet. I knew he was a baby genius.
  • Gran Le'Ann and I have been working diligently on the baby's room. Actually, who am I kidding?? This room would still be filled with all of our crap if not for Gran Le'Ann's prodding. The room looks fantastic and it's about 90% due to my mom. She sewed curtains and bumpers and quilts and changing table pads and everything. She helped hang pictures on the walls and take everything out of it's packaging to put in the right place. She's been the best help and I couldn't make it without her. Jeff and I have enjoyed spending time in the room and thinking about Baby Trevor. I can't believe he'll be in there in about 7 weeks!
  • Last but not least, my absolute favorite moments right now involve what we call the "Trevor Show." Right after we get settled in bed every night - lights out, covers up, bodies situated, we both put our hands on my belly and wait for the party Baby Smith likes to have every night. It's usually when he is the most active and responsive. It's absolutely lovely. We giggle and say, did you feel that?? Or sometime, whoa dude, settle down! I will admit, it's my most favorite time of this whole pregnancy. I guess I'm learning to accept the alien movements after all and I never thought I would say that. The farther along I get, Jeff says he feels Trevor at all hours of the night constantly moving. Luckily it doesn't bother me, I'm usually sawing logs, but this is such a nice moment for Trevor and daddy. It's like they have their time without me. I love it.
XO, Laura
